We have lots of other things to look at while you&#8217;re here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>WordCamp Philly will provide a Saturday <a href=\"https:\/\/2018.philadelphia.wordcamp.org\/schedule\/\">packed with activities<\/a> and a Sunday afternoon of community. But if you have a little extra time, you may want to check out things to see and do in the city.<\/p>\n<p>We have some suggestions and links to ideas for you &#8212; as well as some pointers if you&#8217;re looking for a place to eat while you&#8217;re here.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Philly Still Offers the Usual Attractions<\/h2>\n<p>In the past we&#8217;ve covered the <a href=\"https:\/\/2017.philly.wordcamp.org\/2017\/10\/16\/must-see-philly-sites-fun-for-one-for-a-few-even-for-a-whole-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">traditional points of interest<\/a> such as the Liberty Bell, the Franklin Institute and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They&#8217;re still there &#8212; along with lots of other things to enjoy, such as Reading Terminal Market, the One Liberty Observation Deck, Spruce Street Harbor Park and the Betsy Ross House. Here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitphilly.com\/articles\/philadelphia\/must-see-attractions-philadelphia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a list of 50 possibilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>But That&#8217;s Not All<\/h2>\n<p>But there are so many more things that probably won&#8217;t cross your mind:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gawk at the sea monster:<\/strong> the Navy Yard is hosting the installation &#8220;Sea Monsters HERE&#8221; through Nov. 17. <a href=\"https:\/\/philly.curbed.com\/2018\/10\/11\/17965482\/navy-yard-sea-monster-tentacle-art-installation-building-611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See the article on it<\/a>, which contains directions and transportation information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrate the murals:<\/strong> October is Mural Arts Month, and Mural Arts Philadelphia &#8212; whose works have graced our site and social media &#8212; is celebrating. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muralarts.org\/muralartsmonth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has events daily<\/a>, including a couple of dedications of new murals. You can also take one of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muralarts.org\/tours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regularly-offered tours<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take in a play:<\/strong> there are many theaters in the Philly area and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatrephiladelphia.org\/calendar?field_dates_value2%5Bvalue%5D%5Bdate%5D=&amp;field_dates_value%5Bvalue%5D%5Bdate%5D=Oct+30%2C+2018&amp;field_theatre_target_id=All&amp;field_category_tid=All&amp;keys_show=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">several shows to choose from<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.curiotheatre.org\/all-my-sons.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curio Theater<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; the closest to the University of the Sciences &#8212; is presenting the Arthur Miller classic, &#8220;All My Sons,&#8221; on Oct. 26 and 27.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See if you can spot Gritty:<\/strong> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/flyers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> have a home game against the New York Islanders on Oct. 27. If you want to see Philly&#8217;s newest mascot for your self, odds are you&#8217;ll find him there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marvel at Rube Goldberg&#8217;s creativity:<\/strong> the National Museum of American Jewish History is hosting an exhibit &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmajh.org\/rube\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Art of Rube Goldberg<\/a>&#8221; through the fall. Goldberg&#8217;s name is associated with his drawings of wildly complicated machines, but many people don&#8217;t know he was a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoons.<\/p>\n<p>Still looking for ideas? Here&#8217;s a weekend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phillymag.com\/ticket\/things-to-do-weekend-philadelphia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Things to Do<\/a>. It also includes a few Halloween-themed activities.<\/p>\n<h2>While You&#8217;re Here, Grab a Meal or Two<\/h2>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/2017.philly.wordcamp.org\/2017\/10\/24\/your-wordcamp-philly-food-guide\/\">Philly Food Guide<\/a> is still a comprehensive overview of what to eat while you&#8217;re here.
