Here comes the girl power (and entrepreneurial spirit). Yasmine Mustafa, the founder of 123LinkIt.com, has been confirmed to discuss Starting a Startup with WordPress and give us a glimpse of creating a company out of a free WordPress plugin. Recently launched in the Philadelphia area, Yasmine’s company builds online tools to help bloggers streamline their advertising process. New Speakers Announced!

We hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day Weekend, whether it included the Jersey shore, work, or that horrible Flyers game last night. Luckily, we have a few new speakers to announce (and more coming later in the week) – Brad Williams and Vasken Hauri.

If you’ve attended or followed other WordCamps, you may know that Brad is no stranger to WordPress. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of WebDevStudios.com, the co-author of Professional WordPress from WROX, and a co-host on the SitePoint Podcast. You can check out his full bio here. His topic, most likely an addition to the Springsteen track, is to be announced shortly. Brad has also joined the organizing team for the event, so we’re happy to have him on multiple fronts.

We’re also pleased to have Vasken Hauri, a web developer at Plymouth State University, also confirmed for the program. His presentation title is still in the works, but the topic will discuss the ongoing development of WP-CAS Server, a plugin to convert WP into a fully-functioning CAS server. Vasken’s presentation will be included in the Springsteen track. His full bio can be reviewed here.

Logo Finalized

The WordCamp Philly 2010 logo has been finalized, and you can see it – in all of its glory – above (yes, in the header). We’d like to extend an official and formal thank you to Nick Silva for putting his personal and valuable hours into this project. We’d also like to apologize to Nick – and any other confused readers – for not having the full and complete logo up sooner (the previous one you may have seen was incomplete and not the envisioned work of Nick – only the bell image was.). Check out Nick’s personal portfolio at http://wingnutart.com/, and feel free to drop him a line.

Eddie or Bruce?

In case you haven’t noticed, WordCamp Philly is set to have 2 speaker tracks. What’s more, the tracks are much more fun to identify at WCP, as they are named after two of the greatest musicians of all time – Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen (you know, “The Boss”). While the tracks, and their focuses, may certainly dictate the speakers you’ll follow throughout the day, we encourage you to avoid having a one-track mind (pun absolutely intended). After all, have you ever seen Bruce and Eddie do “Better Man” together? It’s epic! So, we say plan on hopping around a bit, and you just may learn something unexpected.

I’m a Pearl Jam guy myself. 🙂

The duo’s presentation, within the Vedder track, will focus on the mission, concept and story behind the evolution of their project, how BuddyPress has enabled them to realize accessibility within new media, and what the future may hold.
