WordCamp Philly 2018 is almost upon us, and we are in need of a volunteer photographer or two! We want to bring a new perspective to the event by offering the opportunity to capture the talks, panels and overall atmosphere. If you are a highly motivated individual with a lens, please get in touch via the contact form if you are interested!
WordCamp Philly has three themes this year: Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, Independence, and City of Firsts. We invite volunteer photographers to use their cameras to capture these themes at WordCamp Philly. (To be clear, we’re not photographers so we have no idea how to do this. We’re hoping our volunteer photographers will!)
As a volunteer photographer, you will need to publish your photos online under a Creative Commons license.
In the grand tradition of the Philly Wapuu, we’re proud to introduce three new Wapuus. Our theme this year is Philly firsts. We choose just a few that were a surprise to us, but with a city whose history is as rich as Philadelphia’s, it was hard to choose!
Never heard of a Wapuu?… you can read all about how Wapuu came about here and then promptly fall in love like the rest of us. Read on to see our 2018 creations!
The WordCamp Philly 2018 schedule is live! We’ll have one more talk and a couple of panels to announce soon, as well as details about the After-Party and Contributor Day.
If you don’t have your ticket yet, be sure to pick one up soon. WordCamp is just over three weeks away!
Meet our fourth round of speakers! We have lots more people to welcome to WordCamp Philly: Joe Howard, Gertrude Nonterah and Sibel Tasar. Joe Casabona and Lou Fuiano, who were here in 2017, will be back again — Joe to once again lead the WordPress 101 track, and Lou with a Desiger track talk. Read on to find out more.

We have more friends from WordCamps past to welcome back in our third round of speakers. Laura Byrne Cristiano, a 2017 speaker, and Jodie Riccelli, who was on the WordCamp Philly organizing team, are among the fantastic people coming back this year.
Frank Corso, William Earnhardt, Charles Johnston, Laura Strader and Andrew Taylor will be joining them. We’ll have one more round of speakers to announce soon, plus information about our panels. Keep reading!

We could still use about half a dozen more volunteers for the 2018 WordCamp Philly. Help us set up, work the registration table, volunteer at the Happiness Bar or assist with other small tasks that make our event a success.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 pm Sept. 15 (not to be confused with the deadline for free child care and interpretive services). You don’t need to be a WordPress guru to help. Most of the tasks for volunteers don’t require special skills — and you’ll still have time to attend sessions.
To find out more and sign up, see our call for volunteers.
WordCamp Philly will feature so many new speakers this year. Chris Berkley, Donna Botti, Nikki Kriss, Justin Nealey and Gayle Williams join 2017 veterans Pam Aungst and Diane Varner in our second round of speakers.
Read on to find out more these talented professionals. We’ll be announcing our third round soon, plus more information about the WordPress 101 track presenters and panels for this year.

The deadline for two of WordCamp Philly’s free services is coming up fast. If you would like to take advantage of the child care we’re offering during the October 27 sessions, we’ll need to know by 11:59 pm September 14.
The same deadline applies to ASL and interpretive services. Both services require us to make arrangements several weeks in advance.

Some familiar faces and many, many newcomers to WordCamp Philly will be among this year’s speakers. Tara Claeys and Sal Ferrarello, who were with us for the 2017 event, will be returning. They’re joined by Michael Dance, Tessa Kriesel, Tori Pugh, Beka Rice and Nick Smith.
Stay tuned for our next announcement! And read on to find out more about our first round of speakers.
