Travel & Parking

Check out our Info page for the addresses to our main event, After-Party, and Contributor Day venues, along with maps for each locale. We have driving directions for The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, too.

Travel to WordCamp

If you’re local to Philly or don’t want to bother with car rental and parking once you’ve arrived, there are a number of ways to get around. Our venue is about three blocks from Suburban Station — one of the city’s major transportation hubs — and nearby bus, trolley and subway lines.

SEPTA

SEPTA offers several modes of transportation within easy walking distance of our venue. They include:

  • Market-Frankford Line (Blue Line): 15th Street (City Hall) stop
  • Broad Street Line (Orange Line): Race/Vine stop
  • Trolley: several trolley lines stop at 15th Street Station
  • Bus: several bus routes stop at or near City Hall. See bus schedules and maps for details.

To travel the Market-Frankford or Broad Street lines, purchase a Quick Trip ticket from a kiosk at the station. The ticket is good for a one-way trip from the station where the ticket was purchased to the destination of choice. Debit and credit cards are accepted at most kiosks.

Trolley and bus lines currently accept cash.

As of May 2019, fares for subway, trolley or bus within the city are generally $2.50 for a one-way trip. All accept the SEPTA Key Card as payment.

Wheelchair-accessible stations are indicated with a wheelchair icon. Visit the Accessible SEPTA page for details.

PATCO

PATCO offers rail service between points in Camden County, New Jersey, and Center City. Stops at 12th/13th at Locust Avenue and 15th/16th at Locust are nearest to Broad Street.

One-way or round-trip tickets may be purchased with cash from kiosks at any station. Most parking at the New Jersey stations is free but is limited to 24 hours.

Not all stations are wheelchair accessible. Updates to stations are ongoing. Check PATCO’s accessibility information for current information.

Regional Rail

About a dozen of SEPTA’s regional rail lines stop at Suburban Station on 16th Street at JFK Boulevard. All of them stop at Jefferson Station on Market Street between 10th and 12th streets.

The rail lines include an Airport Line that runs from Philadelphia International Airport about every 30 minutes. The fare may be paid in cash (exact change requested) on the train.

Amtrak

Visit Amtrak for routes and schedules. All lines arrive at Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. The fastest way to reach PAFA from there is to take SEPTA’s Market-Frankford line eastbound from 30th Street Station to City Hall. Trolleys also run between 30th Street Station and 15h Street Station.

Greyhound Lines

PAFA is a short walk from the Greyhound bus station on Filbert Street between 10th and 11th streets.

New Jersey Transit

New Jersey Transit has bus lines into Philadelphia, stopping near the Greyhound bus station. Its Atlantic City rail line connects with PATCO, which can take you the rest of the way into Philly.

Taxi and Ride Share

Several different taxi companies offer service into downtown Philadelphia from the airport or rail stations in the city.

The city is served by both Uber and Lyft.

Bikes

There is a bike rack behind the WordCamp venue. From Broad Street, look for the small plaza where the sculpture of the giant paintbrush is located. Go to the back of that plaza. The bike racks are to the right, just  around the corner from the cafe.

Parking

Discounted visitor parking is available at the Parkway Corporation Garage at the southwest corner of Broad and Race streets and at their outdoor lot at the northeast corner of 15th and Cherry streets.

Wheelchair accessible spaces are available on the third level of garage and in the outdoor lot. Be sure to get your ticket validated before you leave PAFA.

For some of the other parking options in the PAFA area, see this map.
