WordCamp Philly isn’t possible without many people and companies generously providing their time, skills and financial support. As we enter the final stretch of our 2019 event, we want to thank the folks who made it a success.
First, think you to our amazing speakers, including two who stepped in at the very last minute. We’ve had years when there were more talks submitted, but we’ve probably never had such consistently strong ones. Selecting a lineup was tricky in the best possible way.
Then there are the two dozen or so WordCamp Philly volunteers. They helped set up, worked the registration desk, assisted people at the Happiness Lounge, ran errands, answered questions for attendees, worked audio-visual equipment and helped us pack up. We would never be able to put together a WordCamp without their work.
Putting on a WordCamp involves many more expenses than can be covered by the cost of the $25 ticket. We need a venue, catering services, closed-captioning services, attendee swag, speaker gifts, printed items and so much more.
Our sponsors go a long way to defraying the costs of our event. We’ve thanked many of our largest sponsors individually, but we hope you’ll take a moment to read and acknowledge all of them. Even a $100 sponsorship helps.
We also want to thank our past organizers. All of the organizing team members from our first five years of WordCamp Philly have stepped down since then to spend more time with family and other projects, but several have shared advice, historic perspective, documentation and moral support over the past year. In particular, Liam Dempsey, Reed Gustow, Alx Block and Brad Williams have contributed to our success this year.
A note of thanks goes to photographer Jason Gambone for allowing us special use of his photo of West Philadelphia on our website and print work. Jason’s art has brought us a number of compliments and inquiries over the last several months.
Finally, we want to thank everyone who attended WordCamp Philly this year. Our event would be meaningless if nobody came to it. We appreciate you and hope you’ll be joining us again in 2020.
This was my 3rd WordCamp Philly and I continue to grow and learn, not to mention meet new people. Terrific day and successful event! Thank you all … especially the sponsors for helping to make this day happen!
Five big stars to everyone!
Thank you so much WordCamp Philly!!!!! I had a lucky opportunity to join you while I was on travel to Philadelphia. This was my first WordCamp and I can’t thank you enough for the positive experience – you were so motivational, informative, fun and welcoming. (I think I have been spoiled for other WordCamps!)
I am so pumped about everything. Thank you, thank you WordCamp Philly.
