Your Guide to the Weekend’s WordCamp Philly Events

We emailed our attendees lots of information earlier this week about the what, when and where of WordCamp Philly 2018. We’re posting the gist of it here for anyone who may have missed it. Keep this post handy to find pretty much everything you’ll need to know for this weekend.

Doors Open and Registration

Doors open on Saturday, October 27, at 8 am.

Registration will be from 8-9 am in the McNeil Science and Technology Center (McNeil STC). The first thing you should do when you arrive is to register.

Opening remarks will begin promptly at 9 am, immediately followed by the keynote presentation.

Location, Travel and Parking

University of the Sciences will be our location for WordCamp Philly and Contributor Day. It’s at 600 South 43rd Street Philadelphia, PA 19104.

McNeil STC is across from Clark Park where 43rd and 45th streets meet Woodland Avenue. The campus map is online.

View the full details on public transport and other options for getting to and from WordCamp Philly. There’s a construction-related road closing near the campus; we have that information posted as well.

Free parking is available in two large parking lots at the university. See our Parking page and the campus map for additional information.

Badges, Stickers, Pins + Swag

Name badges and lanyards will be provided during registration on Saturday morning. Please wear your name badge throughout the conference. Your name badge is required to enter the After-Party.

Gender pronoun pins will be available at the registration desk. If you want, pin your preferred pronouns to your lanyard or outer garment. Doing so can help others refer to you in ways that you prefer.

Color Communications Badges will be available at the registration desk. The badges are stickers that can be placed on your name badge to indicate your communication preferences quickly and non-verbally. Please read the blog post to understand the meaning of the stickers: color communications badges.

Swag will be distributed on Saturday morning during registration.

Saturday Sessions and Schedule

Talks are split into four tracks: Designer, Developer, Business/Freelance and WordPress 101. View the full schedule.

There will be two panels: Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Ethics, Values and the WordPress Community (10:50 am) and Creating Inclusive Workplaces: What Tech Communities Are Doing to Support Employees with Autism and Related Challenges (1:30 pm).

If the schedule changes, the website will be updated accordingly. For real-time updates, follow @WordCampPhilly on Twitter.
